Skales v12.7.0 - Everybody's AI

We've just released Skales v12.7.0, bringing a number of improvements and fixes based on your feedback. Our aim with Skales has always been to make AI accessible and useful for everyone, and this update continues that journey.

A Smoother Start for Everyone

We've rethought the initial setup and settings experience. Now, when you first launch Skales, you can choose what you want it to do for you. This means a cleaner sidebar showing only what you use, and settings that are simplified for everyday use. For those who prefer full control, the "Advanced" view remains, offering access to every setting.

Better Handling of Local Models

We've made significant improvements to how Skales interacts with local AI models. This includes a more generous waiting period for local models to respond, preventing premature timeouts. If a connection to a local model is interrupted, Skales will now report the interruption accurately rather than treating it as a completed response.

Clearer Error Messages and File Support

You'll notice more specific error messages, especially when dealing with provider issues or blocked models. We've also expanded the types of files you can attach, with Excel and Word documents now supported directly. For unsupported file types, Skales will provide clearer guidance on how to handle them.

Improved Conversation Management

Longer conversations are now managed more intelligently. Instead of silently dropping older messages, Skales will summarise them where possible, and clearly indicate when parts of the conversation have been summarised or are no longer in immediate context. This ensures you have a better overview of your chat history.
