Skales v12.9.10 - Circle

Until now Skales paired one computer with another. Circle draws a bigger ring: a room holds up to twelve people, every message is encrypted for each member on its own and signed by whoever wrote it, and the agents on your roster can join as members in their own right, running only ever on the machine of the person who owns them. One board per room keeps the work in a single list that nobody starts until everyone has approved it. Around that: plugins arrive as a proper shelf with a gallery, motion videos get a timeline and sound, two teams can finally work at once, and the app knows itself in fewer, truer words.

We've just released Skales v12.9.10, bringing some practical updates to how you work with Skales, both on your own and with others.

Rooms for Teams

Teams now have "Rooms," a way to connect up to twelve computers in a single conversation. You can create a room, share a temporary QR code or a join code, and then approve each applicant by name. Messages are encrypted individually for each member and signed, so any message without a valid signature is discarded. You'll see how many members have received your message, like "to 3 of 5," without any invented read receipts. If you join a room late, any history you receive is clearly marked as such.

Agents in Rooms

Your agents can now join rooms alongside people. Simply select "Add agent" from the member list, and your agent will appear as its own member, identified by your name. Anyone in the room can mention an agent using "@" in the composer, sending it a job. These jobs run only on your computer, using your keys, models, and tools. You control who can call your agents, with options for approval required, or only you. Waiting jobs will clearly state "waiting for approval" to everyone.

Shared Boards

Each room now has a shared board, a single plan for everyone. Rows can be assigned to people or agents from one list. Nothing will run until every human member has approved the exact list. Any changes to the plan or assignments will clear all approvals, while ticking off a row does not. Agent rows run on their owner's machine via the room's job lane, and a person's rows are theirs to manage, with assignments delivered when Skales is open on their machine.

Multiple Organisations and Folders

You can now run two organisations at the same time, with each run listed separately in the Cockpit. A run in progress when Skales was last closed will resume where you left off. You can also assign a specific folder for a team to work in, chosen once and remembered.

Jobs for Named Teams

When asked to split work across a team, Skales now records which team was involved and matches each role to that team's members, ensuring roles are executed with the correct instructions and models. A non-existent team will be refused. The way a team distributes work – whether only needed members, everyone, or borrowing from other teams – now has a direct impact on execution.

DevKit Included

The DevKit is now integrated directly into the app. Enable it under Add-Ons, and a Developer section will appear in the sidebar. With one click, the command-line tool, documentation, and examples are set up in your Skales folder.

Sidebar Activity Indicators

While agents or a team are running, the sidebar entries will show a small live indicator for who is active, who is waiting for you, and who has just finished. This is a passive display, with no pop-ups or sounds.

Plugin Sharing to Phone

A paired phone can now see and fetch plugins from your computer. Only your paired computer responds, and only its plugin folder is accessed.

Motion Videos with Timelines and Sound

Motion video projects now have a timeline for captions, lower thirds, chapter markers, and watermarks, each with its own start time, length, and layer. Audio also has its own timeline with start, length, and volume, mixed into the exported MP4. Six new scene transitions and ready-made building blocks are included.

Recommendations as Cards

Recommendations now appear as a row of cards below the written answer, including a preview picture, name, a brief description, tags, and the link.

Places on a Map

A row of places now includes an "Open in Maps" link and a Map button to view them on OpenStreetMap. With a Google Places key, place cards will show real photographs, ratings, and opening times.

Plugins Section

A new Plugins section in the sidebar lists installed plugins, allows for creation, disabling, and removal. Broken plugins will now show an error message instead of a blank screen.
