Skales v12.9.20 - Slim

Slim is named for what it takes away. The sidebar is four entries and a More button you fill yourself, the Teams screen holds one thing instead of two, the Discover composer lost its text box on purpose, and a chat of five hundred turns opens in half the time because the page finally draws only what you are looking at. Underneath that there is a great deal that is new: your agent now carries its working mood in the open, Teams became a real room with attachments and an agent that reads it, ten plugins ship as the point rather than the demonstration, and Skales Code grew a command palette, a project search, hunk-level review and the full git surface. And there is a long tail of repair, most of it in places that had been quietly wrong for a while: the memory only understood English, a file crossing between a phone and a computer was thrown away for a checksum that was never wrong, the local engine took your graphics card and then computed on the processor anyway. So Slim is not a feature release and not a fix release. It is the release where the surface got smaller and the thing behind it got both bigger and more honest.

We've just released Skales v12.9.20, bringing a number of thoughtful updates to make your local AI agent even more helpful and transparent. Our focus remains on providing a private, powerful tool that works for you.

Your Agent's Mood is Now Visible

You'll notice a new "Conscious bar" that shows your agent's current interests, mood, and daily activities right from the start. This is purely for your information and doesn't send any data or make noise. You can easily turn it off in Settings if you prefer.

A Little Friend on the Code Landing

We've added a small, animated gecko to the Code landing page. It has nine different animations, from napping to hunting bugs, and it changes with each visit. Its details also adapt to your chosen theme.

Call Mode is Now Iris

Conversations during calls are now handled by the same core AI, Iris. This means your agent has full access to its skills and goals during calls, and its answers appear directly in the chat. If it needs permission, it will ask you directly.

Results in a Rounder Frame

Short answers, images, and quick lists now appear in a rounded frame. Longer text, tables, or code will continue to use the familiar panel. Long text scrolls slowly, allowing you to read along, and stops immediately when you interact with it.

Web Pages Inside the Frame

You can now ask Skales to display web pages directly within the frame, showing the page as it appears online rather than just text. This means more of what Iris finds, whether it's search results, lists, or articles, has a dedicated place to be viewed.

Watching Designs Take Shape

The Studio, chat, and Flow sections now show a progress indicator while a visual is being generated. You can see which stage it's at, how much has been completed, and how long it's been running, so you're no longer left wondering if it's stuck.

Incomplete Designs Are Now Marked

If a model runs out of room mid-generation, the partial output will now be clearly labelled. Skales will then automatically attempt to complete it, and you'll have an option to continue if needed. It will stop if the model starts repeating itself.

Conversations Summarised Overnight

After a period of quiet, Skales will now provide a four-line summary of your recent conversations, noting what was discussed, settled, and left open. These daily summaries are then consolidated overnight, making it easier to recall past discussions.

Asking About Yesterday Works

The search function for past conversations now understands time periods and looks for meaning, not just specific words. You can also access the short conversation summaries for a quicker overview.

Saved Lines Now Show Their Source

Every item in your Memory now indicates where it came from – whether you told Skales directly, it was noted during a chat, found during a nightly pass, or imported from your phone.

Correcting Memories

You can now edit specific details within a saved memory, rather than having to delete and re-enter the entire entry.

Contextual Awareness

Skales now brings along related information when you mention a project, such as the people and tools involved, without you needing to name them explicitly.

Your Interests Shape Conversations

What you frequently engage with now subtly influences your conversations, helping Skales understand your priorities beyond just the immediate topic.

Ten New Plugins

We've included ten practical plugins, covering areas like exposure checks, invoice management, contract reminders, and meeting preparation. For example, "Exposure Check" can tell you if your password has been in a breach without sending your password itself.

Plugin Actions Are Transparent

All plugin actions are now preceded by a card that names the recipient and the text, waiting for your confirmation. Each plugin has its own dedicated folder, and they clearly state what they still require to function.

Keyboard Shortcuts for Code

Skales Code now has a command palette accessible via Cmd-K (or Cmd-Shift-P) that lists all available actions and their corresponding keyboard shortcuts.

Project-Wide Search

The file column now offers content search across your entire project, with options for case sensitivity and regular expressions, allowing you to pinpoint specific lines within files.

Granular Diff Management

You can now select individual parts of a code change to commit or revert, rather than having to accept or reject the entire diff.

Repository Management in Window

Skales Code now includes integrated tools for managing your Git repository, including viewing branches, fetching, pulling, and pushing, all without leaving the window.
