Skales v12.9.31 - Reflex

Reflex is named after the second kind of thinking the app can now do. Every question Skales answers has so far gone to the same place, the model you chose, whether it was a whole essay or a yes-or-no. A decision model answers only the small closed questions - which of these, yes or no, how much - and it answers them in a fraction of a second because it never writes a word. Switched on under Assist, it takes the next step while browsing and decides which tool steps a long conversation can spare, and the model you chose keeps doing what it does. It is off until you switch it on, it never sees a picture, and nothing about the conversation changes when it is off.

This latest update to Skales, version 12.9.31, brings a number of thoughtful improvements designed to make your experience smoother and more efficient. We've focused on giving Skales more ways to understand and respond to your needs, while also making it easier for you to provide feedback.

Faster Small Decisions

Skales can now use a dedicated decision model for quick, yes-or-no type questions. This means that certain tasks, like choosing the best tool for a job or deciding if a piece of information is relevant, can be handled in a fraction of a second. This feature is off by default and can be enabled in the Assist settings. It doesn't see images or write text, and if it's unavailable or slow, Skales simply continues as it did before.

Flagging Generated Content

You can now report any content Skales generates, no matter where it appears. Whether it's a preview, a diagram, a 3D model, or a widget, a "Report" option is now available. This makes it simpler to provide feedback on specific outputs, and your reports will now include details about the content itself, not just a generic answer.

New Plugins and Capabilities

We've added three new plugins to extend Skales' functionality. "Meeting Notes" can now record and transcribe meetings in real-time. "Document Capture" allows you to file photos, scans, or PDFs directly into a dedicated folder, with options for correction. Finally, "Moodboard" lets you create visual collages with images and notes directly on your desktop, even without an API key.

Updates Sep 30, 2026 Skales v12.9.46 - Mend Small things that add up. Skales Local shows GPU only when the graphics card really does the work, and names the reason when it does not. Every local model carries its own context and GPU-layer setting. Updates Sep 29, 2026 Skales v12.9.45 - Steer Skales now brings craft with it: reviewed skill packs for motion, short-form video, frontend design, Office documents, print and brand work and persistent research load by themselves where they help, letters come out on your letter paper, a project becomes a launch video with /launch, and Godot games are built, run and recorded from Code. Every plugin page offers three modes, from doing it yourself to letting the AI do it with each release step waiting for your click, even across a restart. Long runs show every step with its cost, and a run that cannot work says so before it spends anything. Updates Sep 25, 2026 Skales v12.9.40 - Lantern We named it after what it does to the dark corners. A course used to be the thing Skales could describe but not deliver. Now it builds one, voices it, writes the subtitles from the audio, checks the package the way an LMS reads it, and publishes it into your existing Moodle activity without wiping anyone's progress. The same light reached the rest. Flow is a canvas you can pan, zoom and queue work onto, where clicking an element edits the file behind it. Chat and Code work on your own servers over SSH, write Word and PowerPoint, and put every file where you say. Long work now survives a restart instead of starting over. 132 additions, 73 fixes, listed one by one. Full changelog at the Update-Page.
