Skales v12.9.40 - Lantern

We named it after what it does to the dark corners. A course used to be the thing Skales could describe but not deliver. Now it builds one, voices it, writes the subtitles from the audio, checks the package the way an LMS reads it, and publishes it into your existing Moodle activity without wiping anyone's progress. The same light reached the rest. Flow is a canvas you can pan, zoom and queue work onto, where clicking an element edits the file behind it. Chat and Code work on your own servers over SSH, write Word and PowerPoint, and put every file where you say. Long work now survives a restart instead of starting over. 132 additions, 73 fixes, listed one by one. Full changelog at the Update-Page.

We've just released Skales v12.9.40, a small update focused on making your daily work with Skales smoother and more capable.

Working with Files and Servers

Skales can now pack and unpack archives like ZIP files, making it easier to manage your project assets. You can also work directly on your own servers over SSH, SFTP, and rsync, uploading, downloading, and syncing files without them ever leaving your network.

Creating Documents and Presentations

The chat and Skales Code can now write Word documents (.docx) from Markdown and build editable presentations with real text boxes, images, and speaker notes. Any file Skales creates can now be placed exactly where you want it.

Enhanced E-Learning and Narration

Courses are now more versatile, supporting multiple standards like SCORM and xAPI. You can also voice any text or course with your chosen voice, complete with captions, and see the cost and hear samples before you commit.

Rebuilt Settings

Settings has been redesigned from the ground up. It's now a single, overlay window with clear categories, and changes take effect instantly without needing to click save.
