GitHub Copilot is the most widely deployed coding assistant in the world, and inside an IDE it is excellent value. It is also, by design, bound to your editor and Microsoft's cloud - and as of April 24, 2026, GitHub trains on individual users' Copilot data by default unless you opt out.
